More About Us
Professional Local Cattle Producer
Aspen Highlands Ranch is family owned and run by locals, not a distant corporate office. This allows us to give our ranch, and our animals, the unique attention they both deserve. We strive to humanely raise the highest quality, anti- biotic and hormone-free grass fed beef possible.
At Aspen Highlands we are equally committed to sustainable ranching and good land stewardship. As part of that mission we actively support the Okanogan Land Trust and the Okanogan Alliance in their efforts to preserve the Okanogan Highlands' unique landscape for future generations.
So what is the "Highlands' difference"? The secret to our amazing beef is twofold. First at Aspen Highlands we pay careful attention to genetics, careful breeding, and humane handling. Our cattle live in large open pastures, and are rotated to maximize their nutrition and to preserve long term quality grazing. The second part of the equation is our herd's special grassland diet. As the saying goes "You are what you eat". Our herd grazes on the Highlands' unique grasslands, a product of the distinct soils, geology, and climate of this special glacier-carved high mountain landscape. Just as wine made from grapes grown in different regions reflects a region's unique characteristics, so do our cattle who are raised and grazed in the Okanogan Highlands.
What's Happening at the Ranch

Available Fall 2018
Custom Finished Wagyu Beef
Our 100% Full Blood Wagyu Beef will available starting in the Fall 2018. Our product is 100% Black Wagyu - not an Angus or other cross. While these cattle carry the same famous Genetics, and resultant marbling, as Wagyu (and Kobe) cattle raised in Japan, our cattle are born and finished in the good old USA.
If you would like a custom order please contact us. Copies of our animals' American Wagyu Association's registration to prove 100% Full Blood Status are available upon request. A deposit is required for carcass orders. Final payment is made when the animal is slaughtered and hanging weight is determined. Butchering, packaging, pickup/delivery costs are the customer's responsibility.

July 3-4, 2018
Chesaw 4th of July Rodeo
One of the Highlands' biggest attractions is held near the neighboring tiny town of Chesaw, which has hosted an annual Fourth of July Rodeo for over 75 years. This is a family friendly affair, and many of the rodeo cowgirls and boys are from the “hill”, with rodeo connections going back generations.
The action begins the night of July 3 at the Chesaw Rodeo Hall Dance. Not to be missed! July 4th begins with local breakfasts, and a Chesaw Rodeo Small Sports for the kids. The kids' event is held in the morning before the annual parade for the Rodeo which starts at 12:30 p.m.
The Chesaw Rodeo also acknowledges and pays tribute to our close Canadian neighbors who show up in droves each year to join in the fun. There is truly something for everyone. Adults can take their chances in many different events including Barrel racing, and bronc and cow riding. Kids can test their luck catching a speedy chicken, or riding some pretty feisty calves.
Check the Chesaw Rodeo Facebook Page, and local newspapers, for more information about this year's coming celebration.
